It’s Safer Internet Day, and we’re using the time to zero in on the rapid expansion of the digital world to vulnerable kids and communities around the globe. We’re joining with our partners at the ChildFund Alliance to support better online safety.
“Learning about consent, boundaries, sex and sexuality, and how to say no to others will provide us with better skills to stay safe online,” explains Luel, a young man from our Ethiopia program.
With one in three Internet users under the age of 18, we’re committed to creating a digital space where kids can enjoy the benefits of increased access to information and learning resources, without fear of exploitation.
So, we’re joining with our partners around the world on an initiative called WEB Safe and Wise. Through partnerships with government authorities, tech leaders and civil society, we’re focusing on two goals.
- advocating for laws and policies to protect children from online sexual exploitation and abuse
- ensuring children are effective digital citizens equipped to engage online safely, ethically and responsibly
