On World Teachers’ Day, we celebrate the incredible impact of educators like Sefora, whose dedication and love for teaching have left an indelible mark on her community and the lives of countless children
Meet Sefora Campos, whose journey into teaching began with a simple act of volunteerism but has since transformed countless lives.
Sefora’s story is a testament to the profound impact teachers can have on their communities. Starting her passion for teaching at the age of 36 as a volunteer in a children’s dining room, Sefora’s dedication and love for supporting others shone through. Together with another teacher, she stepped up to support a local preschool, offering her time and knowledge to young children. Little did she know that this experience would ignite her passion for teaching professionally.
Over the years, Sefora’s commitment to education has contributed to the growth and development of many children who have now grown into adults. She says, “I believe in children and I like to share my knowledge with them, I do it using puppets, through stories, among others that allow them to develop, this allows them to open their imagination and dream big!”
Sefora’s dedication extends far beyond the classroom. For more than two decades, she has been a dedicated volunteer in her community, driven by her love for supporting others and teaching. She emphasizes the importance of teaching values along with knowledge, recognizing that education is about more than just facts and figures. She says, “For me, being a teacher is a very important job, because we share knowledge with the children, we learn from the children and we also teach them values so that they can develop with knowledge and values.”
Today, Sefora continues her journey as a facilitator of a community school, where she remains committed to working with and for children. Her unwavering dedication to providing opportunities and safe spaces for children to learn, ask questions, and seek help has made her not just a teacher but a example of inspiration in her community.
Sefora Campos’ story reminds us of the transformative power of teachers. They are not only sources of knowledge but also mentors, role models, and advocates for a brighter future.
Let’s honor teachers like Sefora, who dedicate their lives to shaping the minds and hearts of the next generation.
