Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, violence and abuse against children has increased, leaving them extremely vulnerable. In fact, an estimated one-billion kids, aged two to 17, experienced violence in the past year, reports the World Health Organization. Now, more than ever, we’re working with our peers to address all forms of violence and abuse against children so they can thrive in a safe environment.
#EndViolence Against Children — a global coalition of governments, UN agencies, research institutions and non-governmental agencies, including ChildFund Alliance of which Children Believe is a member — released a statement that includes six game-changing actions to keep kids safe. So, how can we make positive change together?
- Ban all forms of violence against children by 2030
- Equip parents and caregivers to keep children safe
- Make the Internet safe for children
- Make school safe, non-violent inclusive
- Protect children from violence and humanitarian settings
- More investments, better spent
At Children Believe, we are working with our partners to advance child rights and protection, among other strategies. We equip communities with knowledge and tools to protect young people’s rights, work with communities and governments to end harmful practices and promote healthy, safe and inclusive spaces for learning.
