Helping women and girls reach their full potential

An annual campaign in support of women around the world kicks off

It’s the topic of discussion from Hollywood to India and around the world — harassment and violence against women. And, the global community is campaigning to show their support to the world’s most vulnerable women.

“It is time for united action from all of us, so that women and girls around the world can live free from harassment, harmful practices, and all other forms of violence,” affirmed António Guterres, secretary-general for the United Nations (UN).

With that in mind, the UN launched this year’s global 16-day activism campaign, ending Dec. 10, to “galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world,” reaching out to the most marginalized, including refugees, migrants, minorities, indigenous people and more.

Participants are encouraged to wear orange to show their support and #orangetheworld on social media.

Christian Children’s Fund of Canada believes #orangetheworld matters. Girls and women everywhere should have the chance to thrive. We support them through challenging situations, such as child marriage, and educate them about how they can be the positive change for their future. Learn more.
