How is the world coming together today?

Find out the significance of #GivingTuesdayNow and how it will help support children around the world

The world is coming together today, May 5. Everyone is uniting for #GivingTuesdayNow, a new global day of giving to provide emergency response for urgent needs caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic.

At Children Believe, our program assessments show food is critically needed. Parents and guardians have lost income, and children are not getting nourishment they need through school lunches either.

“The situation is very difficult in my house; sometimes we eat once or twice a day,” Arlen (above), a mother-of-three, who sold snacks along the side of the road in EstelĂ, Nicaragua before the pandemic, told us a few weeks ago. “I give my children plenty of water so that they don’t (feel) so hungry,” she noted, before we delivered food to her family.

Children Believe teams are helping through the delivery of Emergency Food Packs filled with items such as rice, canned food, pasta, oil, corn and wheat. We’ve already delivered similar food kits in the six countries where we have sponsored children, and we’re continuing to help families like Arlen’s however possible.

Join us in our mission to keep children safe and healthy so we can keep them on course to complete their education and continue to dream fearlessly.

About Children Believe

Children Believe works globally to empower children to dream fearlessly, stand up for what they believe in — and be heard. For 60+ years, we’ve brought together brave young dreamers, caring supporters and partners, and unabashed idealists. Together, we’re driven by a common belief: creating access to education — inside and outside of classrooms — is the most powerful tool children can use to change their world.
